You can contact our dear friend of MFAA Carlos Alonso Neimeyer from Reflex Lighting. Carlos has been a speaker at several of our events and Reflex is the largest distributor for this tech in the region. (they sell to Standard Elec., Northeast etc. and aren’t direct sales to customers).

He will be happy to give you some direction on what is in the market.

Follow up discussion from yesterday’s call regarding ESSR funds:

I had a call with DESE today to get some more clarity and explain what some of our districts are struggling with regarding all ESSR funds being exhausted and nothing left for facilities. As of now all funds ESSR I,II,III have been applied for by communities. As you all know funding allocations were based off of community needs much like school spending and state aid.

The last round of applications (3,000+) are being reviewed now, many of which are for HVAC upgrades. Funds need to be spent per the federal government by 2024.  After ESSR is cleaned up and all applications processed DESE has an additional 100 million dedicated strictly for HVAC that will first target gateway communities and the grant award isn’t open for this funding as of  yet. The hope is the ESSR funds will take care of most of the needs for infrastructure improvements and the 100 mill will pick up any loose ends that didn’t get done.

I know this likely doesn’t help some of our members with the answer. If you need me to dig deeper we can certainly see what was allocated to your community and find out more on where it was spent.

    Be well,
    Ken

DESE Board of Directors just voted to provide Commissioner Riley the authority to issue a mask ordinance for K-12 schools in MA until at least Oct. 1st.

Read the details on what the vote means: https://www.doe.mass.edu/bese/docs/fy2022/2021-08/

There is a DESE Board meeting tomorrow that might have some updates regarding the Fall. You can watch at:

    https://www.doe.mass.edu/bese/docs/fy2022/2021-08/

Many schools and communities around the state have already announced masks required for back to school.

Surface cleaning and disinfection is still very low, if at all, a mode for viral transfer and CDC and other experts are focused on Indoor Air Quality and 4 to 5 Air Changes per hour. Make sure you equipment is running as it should and have new filters and portable HEPA units if your systems our Merv 13 or higher with capacity for increase air exchange.

    Good luck,

    Ken

    Hey Joyce,

Do you have the ability to give them a negative DCAMM evaluation? If they are on state contract you can also notify the contract coordinator to drop a big stick on them.

The QR code seems smart. Just have to figure out how to verify that they are who they are. Could you issue them a blank ID Badge that your prox system could provide each of them with read only and not access? Maybe you could use that like a time clock.

My contracted cleaners back when I had them had a daily sign in log in our head custodians office that they were required to sign each person in.

Good luck and curious to see what cool ideas you and others come up with as this has always been an issue. This is coming from someone that many years ago had the milk delivery person steal from the cafe workers pocket books during a delivery…..

    Hello Everyone,

I’m sure everyone is busy trying to get their school back to normal, but the BOD wanted to reach out one more time.

Sandra Cashen sent out this Survey for a Fun Event a week ago and we wanted to give it some more time for people to respond. We are hoping to increase the number of people for this event. With all that we had to go through, its a great way to come together. We all know, many may be on Vacations before the year begins, but we hope you will join us for a night/day at Polar Park.

We are going to leave the survey open until this Friday 7/23

Again the BOD hopes you can join us

    Hi again,

Had a couple questions about the link. Great questions and perfect teachable moment about navigating our website.

The link brings you to our resource docs page. You will see on the left side of the page a drop down menu for different resources available. I’ve stored the MASS presentation under the Presentations tab. If you click on that you will see not only this but other presentations we have posted on the web page as a resource.

    Hope this helps,

    Be well Ken

    Hey Bill,

The board is collecting data right now to see how many folks are interested and with responses this might be an MFAA family night with a not to exceed tickets provided per family.

Hope you and the family are well and keep you posted with results.

    Hi everyone,

We have had a couple of questions regarding invoices so to make things easier, we hope, we have posted two versions of this year’s invoice on the website. One is dated June to year end spend down:

    https://oldmfaa.avatar-development.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Member-invoice-dated-June-FY2022.pdf

And one is dated July for next fiscal year:

As you will notice we are offering a prompt pay discount this year so make sure to process your invoices timely.

Be well and good luck with the summer slam!

Confirmed 2:30 pm Not Your Average Joe’s in Waltham. We have about 4 people attending and the more the merrier.

    Be well everyone,

    Ken

    Hey Scott,

I’m thinking likely around 2pm in Waltham at Not Your Average Joes might be easiest as Boston traffic has been bananas crazy lately. Haven’t finalized yet as waiting for others to respond.

    Thanks

    Ken

    Hi folks,

How time flies. So nice seeing so many of you last week. Just checking in to see if anyone is interested in meeting with Pat Buchanan tomorrow afternoon to learn more about the launch of Operations Hero’s work order management system. Pat is in town and based on the response of folks we can be flexible with time and locations of either Boston or Waltham area. Pat will be providing appetizers and refreshments for attendees and appreciates the opportunity to figure out how they can best serve your community.

If you are looking and shifting to a different work order management system this is well worth your time.

Let me know and I can connect with Pat as I plan on attending to learn more about the product.
