In reply to: Energy Costs
March 6, 2017 at 10:02 am #31113Hey Tony,
Great question but so many variables when figuring this out. Is you building “GREEN” either LEED or CHPS?
Even the greenest building is going to use more energy. It all depends on what you have currently and what you are converting too. Uni-vents to air displacement? T8 fluorescent to LED?
Talk to your designer about power increase from original building.
Another budget buster will be your filters. New high efficiency buildings could run you a huge % increase of operations. 5 times or higher. Again your designer or OPM can get you the actual costs based on manufacturer recommendations for filter changes with an inventory list for pricing.
Good luck,

February 17, 2017 at 3:44 pm #30713In Sharon town plows and sand the 5 school parking lots. School handles all sidewalks and close to buildings. Schools have 3 F-250 plow trucks (2) have small sanders to help DPW when possible and also hit the larger sidewalks.

In reply to: Water filters on main supply lines
February 8, 2017 at 1:25 pm #30344Hey Ken,
First, why? What are you trying to get out of the water? That will dictate what type of filter you would install.
Second, be careful as current statute, which they are trying to change, would require you to register as a water treatment facility.

February 2, 2017 at 3:32 pm #29977Here are some options that I have run across over the past 2 years of running out events. All these companies do a ton of school work and have been at our EXPO and worked with other MFAA members or Municipal/State Agencies here in MA.

KenIn reply to: Classroom Ductless Split A/C Units
January 24, 2017 at 12:35 pm #29718Hey Ralph,
We had several installed when I was in Sharon. All part of larger projects or performed in-house so no RFP to share.
Biggest issues where the units installed for head end rooms not being designed to operate in winter conditions. They would get cold enough (wrong unit).
Other than that they are a great permanent solution instead of hideous and inefficient window A.C. units.
Good luck,
KenIn reply to: School Dude Price Increase for Municpal Buildings?
January 23, 2017 at 6:15 pm #29632Hi Joe et all…
Just spoke with Josh and it appears that they have run into some licensing issues with Microsoft for discounts on non-school buildings. Microsoft isn’t willing to give the usual steep discount if the building isn’t a school, hence price increase for town and municipal non-school buildings.
More info to follow from the Dude. Price increase not planned until new fiscal year.
Good luck with this and hope the info helps,

January 19, 2017 at 9:08 am #29466Still one last bug that they are cleaning up.
When you hit submit question your screen might show a server error. Ignore this for now as the question is still being populated. They should have a fix in place by end of day today hopefully.
Other than than all functions on the website should be working for everyone.
Thanks

In reply to: Early intervention
December 20, 2016 at 2:18 pm #28894In Sharon we had an early intervention that was part of our Community Ed program, which fell under the School Department’s management. They generated revenue and that funding was used for multiple items around district including building the modular classrooms that the program ran in.
Little different than another stand alone group.
Good luck,
