I have transitioned to an all Tennant fleet of T-3, T-5 and T-300 machines. All are EC H20 machines with power drive. They have been great assuming routine care from staff. The ECH20 systems has eliminated the need for any added chemicals which is easier on the machine and the budget. I spec with AGM batteries because batteries, water and custodians did not seem to work out. Support and service has been good from Hillyard New England.

      Good Luck,

        Paul,

I used HEPA’s in non MERV 13 HVAC served spaces, (Univent spaces) We positioned them midway across the classroom from the Univent (exterior wall) and the exhaust point (by room door or inside closet, etc.) depending on the room to capture air flow moving positive to negative as it traverse’s the space. No extension cords so power availability plays a role in a few locations that are receptacle challenged. We are having facilities only operate them, service them, position them, etc. We have asked (via Principals) for staff not to touch them, move them and basically forget they are there. Although we have found a few moved and one set up as an end table with a lamp on it. Message repeated with Superintendents help.

        Good Luck,

        Steve Clifford

          Steve,

Yes, hundreds of them. Filter Sales & Service through MHEC contract.

Was a 5-7 week lead time. Hopefully that has improved.

          Good Luck

            Good Afternoon,

I would be very careful getting off into the weeds outside of compliance with DESE, building code and ASHRAE code version in which your facility was built under. There are a lot of white papers and other things popping up that are idealistic but not the best course of action for a variety of reasons.

Good Luck as we navigate this storm.

              Good Afternoon,

I would like too share a guideline that I received today on the selection of Portable Air Cleaners (PACS) and other advice on alternatives.

                Bob,

CDL requirement begins at GVWR of 26,000 and up. I’m guessing your not running trucks that heavy or need to. No CDL requirement for under 26,000 GVWR. Class D license is all that is needed.

                My electrician is on salary.

                Pesticide I sub out

I have no hydraulics that require any grade of hoisting license so I can’t speak to that.

                Good luck,

                  Joe,

                  1. Is your organization still paying staff to mostly stay home (essentially paid furlough)? Yes, running a rotating every other day schedule with each buildings crew for building inspections and loose ends.
                  2. Do you have any staff that are on unpaid furlough? No
                  3. Have you had to layoff anyone? No
                  4. Have your City/Town/School officials raised the possibility of layoffs or furloughs with you? No, there has been murmurs of salary/pay freeze for non union staff.

Big news! Time to redo the schedule.

At some point we will be transitioning to a building check model following completion of cleaning and disinfection of buildings and tech distribution to students in need. We will  rotate facilities staff equally for building checks. All staff will continue to be paid straight time inclusive of building checks or staying home. Ed, IT and Admin staff are all working remotely and are being paid regular wages. Good luck to all members as we work are way through this.

It’s a paradox. I see both sides. I am being selective to work that is related to building function that if gone unchecked can spiral and work that is linked to health and safety. All PM’s by outsiders have been postponed.

                          Hi Sandra,

It has not come up yet with my vendor but my perspective on it is,  I expect it to be addressed in the preceding PM visit prior to the state inspection. Elevators are already obscenely expensive before anything even breaks.

                            Joe,

I built an 85K sqft school in 2011, all Nora Grano. It has performed great, autoscrub only with Tennant ECHO machines (ionized water), no strip, no wax. It was 3X the cost of VCT but I insisted on it as I wanted to demonstrate life cycle cost versus initial cost. I would do it again. Let me know if you want to take a look at what Nora looks like after 9 school years. I use VCT for repair of existing only and Nora for new installs and replacements. However I did a Mannington LVT throughout school hallways a few years ago to try LVT and we will see how that works.

                              Martha & Ann,

I have worked with BE Retrofit in the past and found there work satisfactory. I don’t have experience with any other firms for that type of work. It has become a popular trade with communities that are Green Community designated. Perhaps you could work with your utility to identify PEX firms like Guardian which may share insulating firms with you.

                              Good Luck

Snow Days, (School is canceled) then its a regular work day. If snow is done then its catch up time on other stuff for the rest of the 8. Sometimes I keep them on regular shift sometime I pull the night shift in for days, depends on the storm, snow amount, etc. OT is paid after 40 hours worked. Sick, personal and vacation do not count. OT is time and half and double on holidays

In my districts its called Stop the Bleed. We have had for a while, no issues. Once issue that did come up was the gauze that is used in them is designed for this purpose with a clotting agent built in. This has an expiration date. Fortunately our three FD’s assume responsibility and use the expired gauze for department training’s.

                                  Good luck,
