My situation includes a main campus with many activities especially on the weekends and two local elementary schools with very little activity.
MAIN CAMPUS:
I tried a staggered work week utilizing two positions for coverage on the weekend- a Tues – Sat and a Sun – Thursday. This arrangement caused me a lot of grief. Especially with the Tues – Sat position. When there was a Monday holiday he was off Tuesday which created an absence. I also found that these folks often were sick on the weekend days and not so much on the week days. Go figure.

I reassigned these two positions to Mon – Fri and created a Weekend Position to cover all activities. This shift is an extended day 7AM – 4:30PM and at straight time but receives a pay differential similar to the second shift. We bargained out OT after an 8-hour shift. Only after a 40-hour work week are they eligible for OT. I included checking the buildings in the job description. So I only need coverage on holidays. The building checks on holiday no school days are performed by maintenance staff on a rotating basis. If no maintenance staff are available the time goes to the custodians. My guys get $30 per check per building.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
At my elementary schools, we have little need for a weekend position. I created a new position for these sites designated as “Site Supervisor”. It is a salaried position and the job description includes all building checks and any necessary OT. Only when the Site Supervisor is absent is there a need to perform a building check. These are delegated to the building custodians on a rotating basis.

When I signed up about a decade ago, the rep based my fees on occupancy/enrollment numbers. The sq ftge is listed in my account in the locations sections and I’ve never used it for pricing.

I did experience a significant price increase at the start of the fiscal year. SchoolDude said it was based on a format change and server costs. I wasn’t pleased. I’ll enter my costs on the survey when it goes out.

administration chose a boys bathroom for the unisex bathroom. We installed a thumb-latch “Occ” “Un-Occ” indicator on the lavatory bathroom door. We then had to install partitions on the urinals.
