          We installed about 140 seats back in 2011 these are going to be torn out when we demo the building.  Do you want them?  We got them from a movie theatre that was recently renovated just 2 years before we obtained them.  We had a Beau’s Seating install them  Richard Beau Bibeau  Cell  508-269-6762 or business line 508-676-0706 they were recommended by  Lord Seating.

            Our custodians are covered under a union.  We pay time and 1/2 for over 40.  Sundays are still time and 1/2 after 40.  Holidays they say are double time but if they work or not they get holiday pay.  So when they work they only get an additional straight time pay for hours worked.   One of my pet peeves since all other jobs I ever worked we got double time plus the holiday pay.

              We just got a Ford Ranger took me a full year to convince our district to purchase

              we are a tech school so we did not need another plow vehicle we already have 2 Skid steers and a big dump trucks

              finally got it for running errands and picking up motors and hardware store supplies runs

                  On the same note as open sewer vent pipes remember to top off all sink traps as they will dry out and leak gases back.  We have a lot of classrooms where they no longer use the sinks and have covered them with a sheet of plywood for more storage counters which tend to add to the find the odor game.

                      Our school is plagued with behavioral students that break items non stop.  We tried retrofitting the Sloan Valves with just the Auto Flush hands free heads but these didn’t always work well, some leaked.  We tried replacing the complete Flushometers with Auto Flush types but find the way the students kick them and destroy them it is just more costly for the replacement, then of course you have to replace batteries.  Remember to size them correctly as a low flow Flushometer does not work well with an old 4o year old toilet the older models still need the full flush 3 gallon if you cut back on the flush then you will have clogs in the pipes.  Our students clog toilets and urinals with plastic water bottles, apples, bags of carrots, bags of apple slices, handfuls of nuts, bolts, hardware,  plumbing fittings and rags they throw full rolls of toilet paper and full rolls of paper towels into the toilets.

                        Exit access passageways, corridors and assembly areas:
                        • Paper materials shall not exceed 10% of any wall area (not the total wall area) in schools without automatic sprinklers and up to 50% of any wall area in schools equipped throughout with automatic sprinklers.
                        • The maximum grouping of material shall be 12 ft. horizontally and 6ft. vertically. In schools without automatic sprinklers the space between the groups shall be equal to the horizontal width of the largest adjacent group. In schools equipped with automatic sprinklers the space between the groups shall be equal to one half the horizontal width of the largest adjacent group.
                        • Paper materials are not permitted to cover or be within 5 ft. of an egress door.

                          A few years back we participated in both Passive and Active load shedding.  The Passive was automatic when our Co Gen Plant was running and we made money as long as it was going.  It has since self destructed.

                           

                          The Active Load shed meant we had to turn on our back up generator but the problem was that the call always came in about 2:45 and we would have to pay overtime for the couple of hours we participated.  We would make about $75  and pay out about the same in overtime plus the cost of fuel for the generator for the few dollars saved.  So not worth the effort.

                            We have 3 new Camus Boilers on Natural Gas that are staged by run hours.  Recently all 3 units went down and the boiler tech could not figure out what went wrong.  The flame rod sensors all failed and none of the new boilers would run.  We had one old beast H B Smith on Natural Gas that kicked in and saved us.  So there could be that remote possibility that you could lose all 3 depending on your computer controls.

                              We have the same set up as you do. Our Fire Inspector made us remove all the kick down door stops in the past couple of years. Now my custodians carry a rubber door stop when they clean and vacuum at night so they can prop the door open. They move them as they go to the next room or area.

                                  We use a company out of Hanover called Air Cleaning Specialists
                                  Tom Perry 781-826-9755 the guys are great. My unit is manufactured by United Air so I do not know if they work on others but worth a shot.
