Let Them Learn; Outsourcing to Fund America’s Classrooms
Very interesting whitepaper that performs a detailed analysis of pros and cons of outsourced cleaning and debunks some of the misinformation regarding this every growing topic.
Just read the whitepaper. Of interest to me is a note at the end of the white paper which said that a company called Vartek, which seems to provide outsourced IT services t K-12 schools, paid for the study. Study is 7 years old and doesn’t cover much of the northeast. No mention of collective bargaining hurdles needed to outsource from union staff. Do Aramark and other services providers also do minor maintenance work. I suppose if the quality of in-house custodial care was poor and we didn’t have the resources need (staff, supplies and equipment), I would consider this.
This would be a good Fall Conference topic – “To Outsource or Not to Outsource – That is the Question” . I know many MFAA members outsource – it would be good to get real feedback.
